Little Havana, a neighbourhood in Florida, operates as the cultural and social epicentre of the Miami. Home to the Three Kings Parade, Calle Ocho and its very own Walk of Fame, the neighbourhood certainly honours its namesake, Havana – the largest city in Cuba.
Travel 16,000 kilometres across the ocean, and you’ll find a sweet slice of Little Havana in the form of a Latin American Cocktail Bar.
Set to open in the Adelaide CBD next month, Little Havana Co promises nights of Salsa, Mambo, and Bossa Nova, alongside Latin American music, tapas, and classic cocktail favourites.

Owner and Manager, Cono Gorgone – who also owns Adelaide’s Sicily Pizzerias, and the Italy restaurant on Rundle Street – says the inspiration to open Little Havana came from a pop-up event he hosted.
“I recently took over The Oyster Bar [now NOSTRU Bottle Shop Bar] on East Terrace, where we hosted our first South American pop-up, the Festa Club. That’s where the idea came from,” says Cono.
“The pop-up closed, then COVID happened. I got contacted a few months back saying that if I was interested, a club has gone up for sale. We went to have a look and made an offer. Before I knew it, I had this little wine bar.”
Formerly the location of the Lotus Lounge, Cono says he saw the venue as something he’s always wanted to do – open a Latin American cocktail bar and fill that gap in Adelaide’s current bar offering.
“There’s a significant Latin American community in SA, but there aren’t too many places that have that Latin American feel. It’s going to be a bit of fun, with salsa, mojitos, and DJs. Because why not?” he said.

Cono went on to say that he’s working with “big promoters in the Latino crowd”, such as Hugo Salcedo of Latino Groove Dance Studio, to bring the Latin bar to life.
Hugo Salcedo and the Latin Grooves team were recently involved with ADL Unleashed’s Gresham Street Latin Party and have also hosted a myriad of come-and-try Latin dance nights.
If Vibrant colours, salsa dancing, Latin music, and mojitos sounds like something you’d enjoy, earmark 22nd October (opening night) in your social calendar.
