The new Lunar Landing, set to open its doors mid-year, promises to be a new dessert bar that not only fills a gap in Adelaide’s food scene but provides a cosy yet refined setting for late-night sweet treats.
“Lunar Landing is something special for the evening; a dessert bar first and foremost. The name comes from Lunar as in night-time and landing is just play on words, we don’t want to take it too seriously,” co-owner Andre says.

The brains behind Lunar Landing include Andre Penascoza and George Wong, co-owners of the immensely popular Asian fusion cafe, Seven Grounds. They’ve teamed up with talented individuals like Mico Yu, who honed her skills in Tokyo, and Khiem Nguyen, a former chef from Shibui who will now be head chef at the new venue.
“We’re teaming up together and with our previous experience we have very high expectations for execution,” Andre says.
At Lunar Landing, the menu is poised to fuse traditional English desserts with an innovative South East Asian twist. Andre explains that growing up, his family often experimented with English dishes, predominantly desserts. This experience served as a foundation for the Lunar Landing menu, which aims to offer a unique blend of nostalgic Aussie favourites with Asian-inspired flavours.
Some of the flavours you can expect include Coconut Pavlova with strawberries and cream, Bread and Butter Pudding paired with Kaya jam ice cream, Kumquat Tiramisu, Hojicha-infused dark chocolate hazelnut tart, and a sticky date soufflé pancake. The menu will be ever-evolving, adapting to the changing seasons and offering a wide array of high-end yet laidback options for dessert enthusiasts.

The venue is set to be a casual yet refined experience. Guests can enjoy plated desserts in a friendly and laid-back atmosphere, or opt for take-away if they prefer to enjoy their sweet treats at home.
The dessert bar will feature an open kitchen, allowing people to witness the pastry chefs in action as they prepare and create the delicious desserts. The fit-out of the establishment takes inspiration from prominent dessert bars worldwide, aiming to elevate the night-time dining experience in Adelaide.
According to Andre, Adelaide currently has only a handful of dessert bars, and he and his team are thrilled to contribute to this growing scene. Lunar Landing is strategically located in Brompton, right next to Seven Grounds and Plant 4, which ensures that the area is well-fed with options for a sweet nighttime escape.
“Brompton is growing and we really want to expand the activations in the area,” Andre says.
As Adelaide eagerly anticipates the arrival of Lunar Landing around April, it’s clear that this dessert bar is poised to become a must-try destination.
