Popular Chinese dumpling bar and restaurant New Shanghai is set to open its first South Australian store at Churchill Centre in Kilburn, bringing its internationally loved menu to Adelaide.

New Shanghai is a family-owned restaurant chain specialising in traditional and contemporary Shanghainese cuisine. With locations across Australia—in Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland—as well as the Middle East—in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Qatar—and Shanghai’s Xuhui ASE Mall, the restaurant has built a global reputation and is now planting roots in Adelaide.
You can find New Shanghai at some of the world’s most prominent shopping destinations, including the Dubai Mall, the world’s second-largest shopping mall, and prominent Australian locations like Chadstone, Melbourne Central, and Westfield Sydney.
At the heart of New Shanghai are ancient family recipes learned in Shanghai and passed down through generations. Wherever you visit, guests can expect authentic and delicious Shanghainese dishes.
New Shanghai is renowned for its handmade dumplings, wontons, and dim sum, including Chicken Xiao Long Bao, Pot Stickers, Chicken Wontons, Prawn Dumplings, and Gua Bao. Guests can also enjoy a selection of wok-fried signature dishes such as Kung Pao Chicken, Rainbow Beef, Crispy Duck, and Steamed Fresh Sea Bass, accompanied by Stir-fried Noodles and Fried Rice. The menu caters to vegetarian and vegan diners as well, featuring highlights like the Asian Quinoa Mandarin Salad, Mapo Tofu, and Spicy Crispy Eggplant.
For those who want to enjoy their favourite dishes at home, New Shanghai offers a range of pre-prepared meals. Signature dishes like Xiao Long Bao, Pan-Fried Pork Buns, handmade dumplings, and dim sum, as well as stir-fries like Kung Pao Chicken, are available quick-frozen for maximum freshness. These can be purchased in-store, based on stock, seasonality, and availability, and come with simple instructions for steaming, boiling, pan-frying, deep-frying, or reheating at home.
