New tearoom and patisserie, Cielo, opens in the CBD

Offering organic, handmade tea blends and pastries, Cielo is a contemporary style tearoom in the heart of the CBD from the creators of Fresia & Cassia.

Few things pair together better than a hot cup of tea and a sweet, flaky pastry. The ultimate morning or afternoon tea. For many, this combination is a daily ritual but for one young South Australian tea and pastries are more than just a snack, they’re a passion.

As a young girl, Chaveli Goya found sharing a warm cup of tea with her Abuelita (grandma) her favourite part of the day as they shared stories and made memories. This connection is what sparked the passion in Chaveli who went on to create her own tea blends in honour of those fond memories.

From humble beginnings with a simple tea blend of Cinnamon and Assam, Chaveli’s passion project Fresia & Cassia has grown rapidly over the past few years and now, she’s about to take the next step to make her special tea blends and homemade organic pastries readily available to the public with the opening of her very own store, Cielo.

In a quaint shop of Adelaide Arcade, tucked away bustling Rundle Mall, Cielo will bring the area back to its roots. A contemporary tea room and patisserie, you’ll find the full range of Fresia & Cassia organic handcrafted teas that pair perfectly with the fresh, delicious, handmade pastries. Chaveli’s range of croissants, Berliners, cakes and pain au chocolat are enough to transport you to the streets of Paris with just one bite.

You may already be familiar with Fresia & Cassia, with Chaveli and her mum selling their wares at both Plant 4 Bowden and Gilles Street Markets over the past year or so. Along with her signature tea and pastries, Chaveli also stocks a cute range of hand moulded ceramic teawares such as mugs and spoons as well as things like tea strainers and tote bags.

Cielo is the first brick and mortar stall for the 23-year-old, who after training as a pastry chef, decided to embark on her own journey in hopes of sharing the warm, soul-soothing feelings a big cup of tea can bring, the way it always did for her growing up.

With help from Renew Adelaide, Chaveli has been able to make her tearoom dream a reality. A not-for-profit organisation, Renew Adelaide supports small business owners by offering flexible, rent-free spaces in the CBD by connecting property owners with business concepts. Cielo officially opens this Friday June 10 and is located at Shop 31, Adelaide Arcade, Adelaide 5000.
