A brand-new wine bar is opening in the Barossa Valley this March, blending top-tier wines with a retro, feel-good vibe. Get ready for a fresh, funky take on wine culture—this isn’t just another cellar door, it’s a groovy new hotspot where great wine meets good times!
Beats, Wines and Life is set to be the ultimate spot to kick back and relax, bringing both international and local wines, along with vinyl tunes, to Provenance Barossa.
Beats, Wines and Life comes from the mind of Tony Collins, a seasoned wine industry expert with 25 years of experience.
“I’ve been in the wine game for about 25 years now,” says Tony.
“I’ve worked overseas and lived in London for a long time. I was a wine buyer at Fortnum & Mason. Then I moved back to Melbourne and worked for Bibendum Wine Co. which is one of Australia’s top importers of French European wine, I ran their private client business for about eight years.
“I originally grew up in the Barossa and moved back here and decided that I really wanted to do something for myself, hence we’ve taken the past couple of years to put this all together and up and running. We’re almost there!”
With Tony’s background in international wine and homegrown Barossa roots, he’ll be blending the two at his new bar.
“It’s going to be a fine wine bottle shop and also a bar. People will be able to buy bottles off the shelf to take away, but people are going to be able to enjoy some things by the glass, plus anything by the bottle that’s on the shelf or in the fridge to enjoy on-site. We’re doing $15 corkage on anything that’s bought in-store and consumed here. We also have a vinyl record shop and providore.
“We’re doing a lot of artisanal products, European products but a few Australian things as well. It’ll be a fine wine destination in a more relaxed environment.”

Inspired by Tony and his family’s travels across the world, this international influence will not only be present in the wines on offer but also the bar’s style.
“We’ve travelled a lot over time and visited a lot of great wine bars and wine shops around the world, and seen how certain people do wine bars. I find that a lot of wine bars in Australia are more like restaurants that have good wine lists.
“Sometimes it feels like you have to go in and have a meal to try the good wine list, whereas I’m trying to encourage it to be more about the wine and the food is there to compliment it. You’ll be able to put together your own charcuterie selection with some cheeses, pate, crackers, bread, things like that.
Located at Provenance Barossa, Beats Wine and Life is joining a fantastic lineup of local businesses in the heart of the Valley. Provenance Barossa is home to a collection of artisanal food and beverage businesses, where you’ll find everything from wine, gin and coffee to pizza, ice cream and tapas. Beats Wine and Life will be neighbours with local gems like the Barossa Ale Haus, Barossa Distilling Co, Penfolds, The Glacerie operated by the Barossa Valley Ice Cream Company, Bean Company, First Drop Wines and Embr Pizza.
With all these fantastic eateries around them, Tony says that you’ll be able to find everything you need. But what sets them apart from the rest is the keen focus on international wines.
“The wines are going to be predominantly from overseas. That’s my big selling point and point of difference. There are a lot of wine industry people here, a lot of winemakers and collectors of fine wine that like to expand their knowledge to what’s available and what’s out there, so I want to give them something they’ll enjoy.”

As for the music, you’ll find an eclectic mix of tunes. From hip-hop to rock and reggae, you’re sure to find something to suit your tastes.
“I’ve always felt music and wine go hand-in-hand. I collect wine and vinyl records, and I’ve got a lot of friends that do the same. It was a case of wanting to do something I like and have a passion for.
“The name of the shop ‘Beats, Wines and Life’ is a play on A Tribe Called Quest’s album called ‘Beats, Rhymes and Life’. I’m sure that album is going to get a spin pretty soon.”
