COMING SOON: Owner’s of Ovo Gelato are set to open new specialty Italian pizzeria Padrino this Spring

Padrino is set to open its doors this Spring, bringing moody and classical elegance as well as their authentic Italian cuisine to Adelaide.

Adelaide’s newest authentic pizza restaurant, Padrino, is set to open its doors this Spring, bringing incredible Italian cuisine and traditional flavours with modern twists.

A complete contrast from the handcrafted and allergy-friendly dessert bar OVO Gelato (owners John Milky and Gaby Saleh) have partnered up with John’s sister Louise czehura to create Padrino in the hope of bringing another unique restaurant to Adelaide.

“My sister and I thought the pairing of pizza and gelati would be perfect to keep in the suburbs,” explained John Milky.

“This project is close to our hearts, we love food and playing around with flavours, we love simple food done really well. It’s about keeping it simple but flavoursome.”

The outfit of the new store is set to be moody, homely and rustic and will include more classical materials, transporting you to the overseas destination we all wish we were at, making it look and feel like an authentic Italian pizza bar.

“I have vivid memories or my grandma making cabbage rolls and the steps and the tips around it. It’s these little things that show you how much knowledge they have. It makes you appreciate it more,” John said.

“We have all grown up in a family businesses environment. After school we used to go to mum and dad’s shop and fill the fridges.”

“It’s in our blood to undertake projects like this and because we have had this upbringing, we know how hard you need to work to make businesses successful. We’re not afraid to start projects like this.”

The creative owners are currently in the process of developing their menu. They have hinted that while guests can look forward to traditional favourites with modern twists, they can also expect a menu based around everyone having their own pizza instead of large sharing pizzas.

There are set to be different starters and antipastos for sharing and there may even be a homestyle Tiramisu on the menu for all those with a sweet tooth.

“Suburbs are making a resurgence. My dad has always had corner store delis and our family managed to keep businesses thriving despite what was happening around them and we want to do the same.”

“The foundations of Padrino will be good service, good food and good atmosphere. Customers will be at the heart of what we do.”

Padrino is set to open in Spring this year, from what we already know this is a very exciting spot to keep your eye out for.

Where: Newton SA 5074.

When: Spring 2023.
