Big news is brewing in Golden Grove, and locals should get ready for something seriously exciting!
Beloved local spot The Grove Tavern has just announced its most ambitious project yet, a brand-new, purpose-built beer garden that’s set to transform part of the venue’s car park into a lush, open-air drinking and dining spot. And from what we’ve seen so far, it’s going to be a game-changer for the area.
In what the team is calling their “biggest project ever,” this epic new beer garden is more than just a quick facelift—they’ll be reinventing what it means to enjoy a pint with mates in the sunshine.
The idea was sparked after years of running a pop-up garden during the warmer months.
“We’ve been running a pop-up garden in the carpark for a few years during the summer months and have seen a great response,” says Venue Manager Daniel. “This has given us the confidence to pursue this project.”
Working closely with the designers at Studio 9, the vision behind the new space is all about versatility and vibe. The beer garden will directly connect to the revamped sports bar, which is getting a modern refresh with a better layout for watching live sports and major events, while still holding onto that classic sports bar charm.
“Our vision was to create a space that caters to a wider audience,” Daniel explains.
“The garden which will connect to the sports bar has a Mediterranean feel, with beautiful cobble flooring plus Cape Jaffa limestone and timber features. We believe this will be a warm, welcoming space perfect for any occasion.”
Early mock-ups reveal exactly that. A stunning, modern design that perfectly complements the laid-back atmosphere The Grove is known for. Think white-washed walls, earthy textures, natural light, and plenty of leafy greenery. At the heart of the garden, a feature fireplace will offer the perfect place to gather, no matter the season.
The seating will cater to everyone. there’ll be communal tables for big groups, casual benches for catch-ups with mates, and intimate booths perfect for a date night. Rain or shine, it’s designed to be the ultimate year-round hangout. Open-air sections will soak up the sun, while covered areas provide shelter for Adelaide’s cooler months.
This will be the perfect spot to kick back and enjoy a Sunday session, celebrate special events with the family, or catch up with friends over dinner and drinks.
To make sure this space can be used all year long, the design cleverly balances sunshine and shelter, with both open air and shaded areas, the space will be an all-weather go-to. It’s clear the team has put serious thought into every detail, and the result will be a great community space in Adelaide’s north.
The Grove Tavern has proudly been family-owned for 25 years, offering everything from pub classics in the bistro and live sport in the bar to private function spaces and a Sip ‘n’ Save bottle shop. Just 20 minutes from the CBD, this local gem is about to shine even brighter.
“This is something we think we have lacked for many years so bringing this to life is a dream come true,” explains Daniel.
The project is set to kick off next week and is set for full completion just in time for summer 2025. While this process begins, the Sports Bar will be closed with the regular 100 club moving to the Restaurant on Thursdays. To keep up to date, check out their Facebook page here.
