Snob Catering has absolutely taken off in its three and a half years of business, from footy clubs to breweries and huge events, the Snob team has made its presence felt. As its latest move, the highly successful catering business has announced the opening of Snob Cafe in Ridgehaven.

The cafe is exploring a new concept, build-your-own breakfast, which owner Daniel Hansen hopes might become a new trend. “The whole brekkie menu is going to be build-your-own!” Hansen said. “You’ll be able to completely customise your order.” Snob Cafe will offer all the brekkie classics, exactly the way you like it!

On top of that, the cafe will serve a decadent selection of waffles with a carefully selected premium Australian butter, Pepe Saya butter. Pepe Saya is a NSW producer of divine cultured butter. The butter is crafted into a satisfying disc that looks not dissimilar to a large wheel of brie ready for sale. Hansen said, “We’re super excited to introduce Pepe Saya butter. It’s a really amazing Australian butter. It’s beautiful – it’s made in the French way, and it’s a pretty special butter.”

Hansen also shared that iconic South Australian bakery Skala will be crafting a special line of bread exclusively for Snob Cafe. “Skala Bakery is making us our own personalised sourdough that will go with everything on menu. It’s only gonna be served here which is really cool!”

The new cafe will also offer an extensive range of grab and go food, and from 10am, a range of burgers and sandwiches will be on offer, perhaps a nod to the popular food truck of the same name. The venue will look to open for breakfast and lunch from 7am to 4pm daily.

While it’s exciting that Snob will expand their offering, it unfortunately comes as Never Cry Wolf cafe shuts its doors after only opening in June of 2024. “I was sad to see Never Cry Wolf shut down, but I gave the owner a ring and we were able to agree on a fair price,” Hansen said.

“The fit out is already really decent!” Hansen said. “I’m planning to do a little reno, though. We’re looking to put bifold doors in to spruce it up a little bit. Probably some new tables and chairs as well.”

Daniel Hansen and his wife Stephanie Hansen started Snob Catering around three and a half years ago. “I was a chef for 15/16 years, before I got out of it and was working in sales,” Daniel Hansen said. “I hated it, so I begged my wife to let me buy the truck.”

In 2023, after catering numerous events, Snob was able to build a kitchen in SixTwelve Brewing in St Agnes as the permanent food provider for the venue. “We’re serving around 750 meals a week which we’re super proud of for only doing 5 nights a week,” Hansen said.

“We just love the area!” Hansen said in regard to Tea Tree Gully and St Agnes. “When we were doing the brewery in the food truck we might have started at about 10 people a day, now we’re doing around 80 people during the week and sometimes 150 on the weekend.”

As one of the major sponsors of The Tea Tree Gully Football Club, he says he’s felt right at home. “They’ve been super supportive to us. They’ve always taken care of us.”

With their roots firmly planted in the local community and a fresh concept ready for action, Snob Cafe is set to be another proud chapter in the Hansen family’s growing catering story.
