In 2020, The Suburban Brew opened up a new branch burrowed between neighbours, The Paper Moon Collective and Sneaky Pickle on Goodwood Road. Now, replacing Paper Moon tattoo studio will be Reggie’s Detroit pizza which will add a new element to the quasi-industrial and laid back brewery.
The Suburban Brew is known for its craft beer and community spirit. Their motto, after all, is “love thy neighbour, love thy beer.” The new delicious addition to come later in the year will be making people chant “love thy pizza” motto as well with deep-dish pizzas to impress.

“We’ve taken over the front tenancy which we will sub-let to Reggie’s so people can grab delicious pizza and bring it into our large space to have with one of our beers. The two places will co-exist really well,” co-owner of The Suburban Brew Troy Brailsford says.
They’ll be serving up 10-inch square pizzas which are not only slightly deeper than deep-dish but with the ingredients going right to the edge so there’s no boring crusts.
Detroit-style pizza is traditionally a rectangular pan pizza with a thick, crisp, chewy crust. It was developed during the mid-20th century in Detroit, Michigan, and is now a popular dish all around the world.

“The menu will have a traditional element, but it’s still in its infancy at the moment. There’s the signature characteristics of the Detroit Red Stripe which is light and airy pizza crust, mozzarella, and a zesty pizza sauce, but there will be more options available,” Troy says.
The Suburban Brew was originally going to do a lounge bar extension before deciding to sub-let it out to Reggie’s Detroit Pizza.
“We noticed early on that people were seeking a food option here. At one stage we were offering Uber Eats and we were taking on the delivery costs, but longer term we knew we had to source some in-house food options,” Troy says.

While The Suburban Brew is extremely excited to welcome Reggie’s Detroit Pizza into the space, in the meantime they’ll be serving up a range of hotdogs, burgers and side options to go with their craft beers.
While there, you’ll want to try a number of their classics; the No. 2 Pale Ale, the beer where it all began, an approachable beer with notes of orange and grapefruit, the Flat 5 English Special, a strong malty backbone with fruity notes, and their 3/92 Black IPA, a velvety dark Porter with a grassy mash of stone fruits.
