‘For the truly carnivorous,’ The Carnivore is expanding with a new location on Port Road in Hindmarsh, just a stone’s throw from the Adelaide Entertainment Centre and The Gov. Building on the success of their Henley Beach restaurant, this new venue will offer an even wider audience the chance to enjoy their signature smoked meats and expertly grilled steaks.
The new site, which takes over the space previously occupied by Enzo’s Ristorante – a cherished Italian restaurant for 25 years – brings a fresh twist. The Carnivore will continue the Mediterranean influence that defined the space.
Since its beginnings in 2017, The Carnivore has built a strong reputation for quality meats, winning multiple awards for their smoking techniques and expertise. They initially began by showcasing their creations at events and festivals across Australia, gaining recognition for their use of red gum wood in a five-meter-high fire pit to smoke meats to perfection. This innovation earned them their first award, along with “gold accolades” for their service, showmanship, and cuisine.
The Carnivore’s winning streak continued with multiple first-place ribbons at the Royal Adelaide Show in 2017 and another victory at the Royal Sydney Easter Show in 2019.
By late 2022, the team opened their first permanent restaurant in Henley Beach Square, quickly becoming a local favourite for their slow-cooked meats and unique smoked dishes. Now, they are set to bring that same experience to an even bigger audience with their Port Road location.
While the new Port Road venue will offer an updated menu, loyal fans of The Carnivore can rest assured that the classics will remain. Diners can expect a wide selection of smoked beef, pork, and seafood dishes, including ribs, tomahawks, Southern Rock Lobster, South Australian King Prawns, and calamari. The restaurant will also feature signature platters, perfect for large groups wanting to share and explore a range of meats, sides, and mains.
As a steakhouse and smokehouse, The Carnivore brings a premium dining experience, with an open kitchen that will give diners a glimpse into their unique cooking methods. This will allow guests to watch as their meals are prepared in the signature fire pit and smoked to perfection.
