Gelato lovers get ready, Adelaide’s favourite Gelato store is set to open a second location this year to bring more of their flavourful sweets to the city to satisfy your sweet tooth, regardless of your dietary requirements.
OVO Gelato will focus on serving the freshest gelato made on-site from the highest quality local seasonal ingredients. The boutique dessert bar, which comes from the same owners of Newton cafés CLAY&Co, specialises in allergy-friendly gelato.
OVO serves allergy-inclusive sorbets, as well as nonstandard alternatives, such as creamy vegan milk-based gelato, sugar-free varieties, and ketogenic options, which are also suitable for diabetics.
Co-owner John Milky, who owns both OVO Gelato and CLAY&Co with partner Gaby Saleh, says the inspiration for the spot’s inclusive specialty desserts comes from his own experience.
“We want to make sure that everyone who comes in can eat something, I went through a period of being on a keto-style diet, and you still want to have something to treat yourself,” he says.
While the Newton location has been operating for around seven months now, John is very excited to embark on this next journey and bring his new ideas to the currently unknown East End location.
“This new location is a great spot for us to expand, it works really well with what we want to offer and while it’s all still in the early stages of planning, we’re very excited.”
While you can look forward to the usually incredible gelato being served in this new store, they’re also offering a breakfast service from 7:30am where they’ll be serving their speciality coffee and a range of delicious savoury bites.
“We’re looking forward to drawing in a new crowd with our breakfast offerings, our new store will be in an area surrounded by professionals so we’re a great spot to stop by and grab a drink and bite to eat,” he explained.
The new location will provide a more organic look with natural timbers, stone and different textures on the walls with a deep maroon feature wall to create a stunningly modern and earthly space.
“We wanted to create an inviting space, the large windows and earthly tones make for a vibrant and lively space for people to enjoy both indoor and outdoor the new location.”
OVO Gelato is set to serve gelato and coffee from around 11:30am to 10pm and there will be up to 20 flavours on offer.
The nut range will remain year-round, while the fruit range will change depending on the season and availability.
The new OVO Gelato is set to open its doors by the beginning of summer this year and more information is set to be revealed soon, click here to stay in the loop.
