A new co-op space will take the hills by storm next week, with gorgeous locally made and crafted vintage treasures set to hit the shelves at The Vault @ Verdun.
The soon to be insta worth space will be operated by Helen Ransom and will look to incorporate local artistry, florists and other creative spirits within the walls of a 1935 new renovated church.
“We will house things like rent a rack, vintage decor, crystals, we are also looking to hang the work of local artists as well as shelf rentals,” Helen said.
“Later on down the track we’re also hoping to put a cafe in so people can grab a coffee and look around.
“Everyone is just so talented in the hills.”
After finding success with her online crystal store ‘Home Crystal Co’ over the last three years, Helen wanted to fine tune the way her clients were selecting their crystals and really give that personalised experience on a person’s spiritual journey.
“We’ve done a lot of markets which I think inspired me to open up that permanent retail space,” she said.
“We were also noticing that it was harder to sell larger pieces, particularly online, if there is a special piece they want to see it in person rather than online.
“We are just so lucky to have landed on the beautiful, old building, it had more space than I need for the crystals so I tried to think of what else I can put in there.”
While taking on a near 100 year old church is no easy task, Helen has been hard at work renovating the space but ensuring the the charm remains ahead of the space’s launch on January 30th.
The space will incorporate the excellent hard wood flooring, the cathedral style ceilings as well as a stunning lead light glass windows.
The building was previously used as an art gallery, a wine cellar, tasting room as well as operating as a function centre.
With the clock ticking down, Helen hopes those in either in the hills or looking to embark on a nice afternoon drive pop in and see what the artists have on offer and indulge in some retail therapy.
“It’s always nerve wracking when you put a lot of time into some and you want it to see it be a success,” she said.
“I’m nervous but excited.”
