In addition to Karma and Crow’s newest wine and vegetarian bar ‘So Long, Marianne,’ female-lead hospitality group, Sonic Yoni are rolling out Yellow Matter in April/May 2023.
Yellow Matter microbrewery promises to deliver an ideal hang out spot and event space, designed by award-winning architectural designers, Studio Gram.
Located on Marion Road in the old council depot buildings, Yellow Brewery is just a two-minute drive from Karma and Crow. The 580sqm brewery sits adjacent to So Long, Marianne, with a huge glass window to look out at everyone enjoying some boutique fine dining.

As for the bubbly fella behind Yellow Matter, the former head of Melbourne’s Bodriggy Brewing Company, Tristan Barlow is providing the amber aide to a warm day. Yellow Matter have concocted a perfect pairing for their wood-fired vegetarian pizzas and small plate dishes.
“Expect table service, accessibility, and a huge range of ‘not just beer’ options. I will be curating the wine and non-alc list so everyone feels considered,” said the owner, Janie.
The venue will be open from 10am to 6pm, with the exception of weddings and events, making it the perfect spot to chill out in the indoor seating or revel in the warmth while sitting outdoors. Although Yellow Matter plan to start canning in 2024, you’ll still be able to grab a bev and chill by the pool table throughout 2023.
“When we are good and settled, we intend to offer traineeships to women and gender minorities to get into the brewing side,” said Tristan Barlow, speaking passionately about the spirit of Yellow Matter.
The Yellow Matter team have set out to challenge existing paradigms in the brewery sector, which is predominantly male dominated, by elevating and offering opportunities to those that might not have had a chance to try it out.
It’s all about inclusivity… A place to sit in comfort, a place to have a laugh with some friends and bond over some brews.
