Antonio Fava is an actor, author, international theatre director, maestro of Commedia dell’Arte and of comedy. He directs the international school of the comic actor in Reggio Emilia, Italy. He designs and makes leather masks for use in his school and performances. He teaches Commedia dell’Arte in schools, universities and drama academies throughout the world. His masks are on show in important museums and cultural institutions.

Join Antonio Fava for a physical, interactive approach to learning and honing your skills in the Commedia dell’Arte; the beginning of all professional theatre!

You will learn the complex system of the Commedia dell’Arte, with specialist information covering:

Archetypes, mask technique, character development, slapstick, and stage fighting, ensemble skills, improvisation, comic duo/clown techniques, lazzi development, with discussions of various commedia styles including southern and pastorale.

Participants will be invited to perform various skills throughout the sessions. These include direction and feedback by maestro Fava.

This two day workshop is designed to expand beyond an introduction and move participants into a place where they have the skills to freely explore the realm of the art form.
