Commute coffee bar owners are launching a food truck slinging epic sandwiches

A brand new food truck is rollin’ our way this summer.

Image for inspiration.

Hot on the heels of launching the popular coffee bar ‘Commute’ on the ramp in Adelaide Railway Station, owners Wilson and Isabelle Shawyer are preparing for their newest venture; Truck’n’Roll.

The concept? Sandwiches. But not just any sandwiches; epic sandwiches using all locally-sourced ingredients and produce.

The vegetables will be pickled in-house, the sauces home-made, and the meat smoked and cured on site.

The truck from which they’ll be slinging out these sandwiches is a vintage 1975 Citroën HY.

It’s also had quite the journey coming to Australia.

Isabelle and Wilson bought the van in 2018 when they lived in London, after finding it in the Netherlands, where the largest collection of H Vans can be found.

It took two years to get the van to South Australia and it seems to have been worth the wait, Truck’N’Roll six-metres long, with a wood smoker in the back.

Truck’n’Roll will be launching in the summer.

Until then, check out Commute’s smooth expressos at 125 North Terrace, Adelaide.
