Construction of the 27-storey office tower at Festival Plaza is finally set to begin in mid-October.

The sustainable, all electric tower will set the standard for sustainable building as the way of the future and will be home to a number of new exciting facilities.

The projected 40,000sq meter tower has faced almost a decade of planning, debate, and delays, but finally, workers will be on-site next month with fit-out work for tenants expected to commence in August of next year.

The tower is set to stand between the Adelaide Casino and Parliament House and is all electric. The plans were first approved back in 2016 after the former Labour Government in 2012 gave Walker Corporation exclusive rights to develop the precinct.

After the completion of the Festival Tower project, the people of Adelaide will additionally enjoy a 5,000sqm city square and public realm, and a two-storey precinct that will feature cafes, restaurants and a range of luxury retail outlets.

Festival Tower will work as a connection between the city’s most visited public facilities to create a dynamic entertainment centre.

The $1 billion project aims to create a thriving CBD destination that will be home to many exhibitions, pop-up food and beverage stands, art and other cultural exhibitions.

After completion, Festival Tower will be a central meeting place for the people of Adelaide to attend major events, socialise, eat, drink, and be entertained from morning to night.

Festival Tower will attract interstate and global tenants for the economic benefit of the state, and will play a major role in bringing people into the square to be entertained after work.

Walker Corporation aim to create an innovative new standard for sustainable buildings as the way of the future, as well as the creation of a stunning landmark in Adelaide’s city centre.

The project officially commenced in 2019 and is expected for completion in 2023.
