Beerenberg Farm is known worldwide for its famous strawberry jam and each year thousands of people visit the farm during strawberry season to enjoy picking their own strawberries in the patch from November to May.
Since the November 2021 opening of their new Farm Shop, stocking over 100 delicious Adelaide Hills made condiments, sauces and jams, and the Farm Cafe, where you can dine 364 days a year (closed Christmas Day) on Beerenberg inspired pies, salads, burgers and more, hundreds of thousands of people have flocked to Beerenberg Farm outside of strawberry season.
But did you know that there’s another attraction at Beerenberg tantalising tastebuds and having people of all ages licking their lips? Indulge yourself at their delightful ice creamery, The Dairy.
With many flavours to choose from, their ice cream and gelati is made with freshly churned local milk and the highest quality fruit, chocolate, and other delicious ingredients.
Choose the Strawberry flavour which is packed with Beerenberg’s very own juicy strawberries. Or go wild and delve into their yummy Belgian Chocolate flavour.
Beerenberg Marketing Manager Sally Paech says the inspiration for The Dairy came from the love of the strawberry swirl ice creams the old Beerenberg Farm Shop would make exclusively in summer.
“Now the great thing is we have ice cream all year round, and not just strawberry but so many amazing fresh flavours made right here in Hahndorf at the farm,” Sally says.
“Each flavour is crafted by our Farm Chef David, using fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced produce and can sometimes get a very creative like, Pink Cloudy Apple Sorbet, Orange Blossom Honey Ice. Cream, Ginger & Lemon Lime Sorbet and Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream.”
Whatever flavour you choose, one thing is for sure: it’s so good you’ll want a second helping. Or three scoops please!
The Dairy is also where you can try Beerenberg’s delicious waffles including ‘The Lil’ Timmy’ featuring Caramel Tim Tam Ice Cream on homemade waffles with chocolate sauces and crumbled Tim Tams. They also have gluten free waffles and plant-based options available.
Or, why not go next level with a thick shake or one of The Beerenberg Signature Shakes of the Day?These are for the dessert lovers and not for the faint hearted. Children will also love the Candy Cones dipped in Belgian chocolate and covered in lollies.
