Coonawarra Uncorked brings top producers & 150+ wines to the Central Markets for one-night-only tasting festival

Coonawarra Uncorked is bringing over 150 wines and top producers to Adelaide Central Market for a one-night-only tasting event.

Wine lovers, mark your calendars! One of South Australia’s most celebrated hidden gem wine regions is heading to the city for a one-night-only tasting takeover event, and it’s one you won’t want to miss out on.

The Coonawarra Wine Region is teaming up with Adelaide Wine Festival to transform the Adelaide Central Market into an after-hours celebration of the region’s finest wines mixed with the flavours we know and love from the market.

Coonawarra Uncorked is landing as part of this year’s jam-packed Tasting Australia lineup, and will bring more than 150 wines from over 20 of the region’s most loved wineries to the CBD. This is a rare chance to try some of the region’s very best without the four-hour road trip, with everything from its signature Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and underrated Riesling to a broader lineup that showcases the diversity of the region.

“When people think of Coonawarra, the first thing that comes to mind is our sensational red wines, but there is plenty more that Coonawarra produces and offers,” shared Coonawarra Vignerons acting Executive Officer and Events & Marketing Coordinator Heidi Guyett. “From Sparkling whites and sparkling reds to Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Grenache, Tannat and tawny’s, there is plenty to savour…. And what better place to celebrate the flavours than the heart of the Adelaide Central Market.”

This vibrant setting is what truly elevates the event beyond a typical tasting. Against the lively backdrop of the Adelaide Central Market, guests can wander between producers, engage with winemakers, taste the wines and then settle in and enjoy delicious offerings from some of the Market’s favourite traders.

Heidi says to expect a mix of big names and boutique labels, with producers including Wynns Coonawarra Estate, Majella Wines, Parker Estate and Redman Wines, alongside other much-loved and also lesser-known brands offering something new to discover. In total, more than 20 wineries will be at the event, giving guests plenty to explore.

Paul Bratovic, founder and owner of The Olive Tree Food and Wine (Stall 61) at the Adelaide Central Market and co-organiser of Coonawarra Uncorked, said the event offers a rare opportunity to spotlight a single wine region in such an iconic setting.

“We’re so excited to be bringing Coonawarra front and centre at Uncorked. It’s rare that a single region gets to take the spotlight like this. Coonawarra has such a distinct identity, and this is a chance for Adelaide wine lovers to really go deep on one of Australia’s most celebrated corners.

“There’s something really special about hosting a single-region event in a market setting. It feels intimate, it feels accessible, and Coonawarra deserves that kind of attention.

“Between this event and the fifth edition of the Adelaide Wine Festival, presented by The Olive Tree Food and Wine in June, there is plenty of wine tasting to go around — and we love showcasing the beauty of the Central Market to a fresh new audience.

“The food offerings for the night will come from two of the best, Cumbia and SiSea, perfectly complementing the wines on tasting.”

Tickets to Coonawarra Uncorked are $40.50 and include entry, a keepsake tasting glass, and 3 hours of tastings. Guests will also be able to purchase by the glass or bottle, to enjoy on site or to package up and take home. Food will also be available to buy throughout the evening.

“We’re incredibly excited to bring Coonawarra to the heart of Adelaide as part of the Tasting Australia program. Coonawarra Uncorked at the Central Market gives wine lovers the chance to meet the makers and taste the diversity of our region in a vibrant city setting,” said Heidi.

Kicking off from 6:15pm via the Grote Street entrance, the 18+ event will transform the Central Market for an evening of everything Coonawarra. So whether you’re a long-time fan of the region or just starting to explore what they have to offer, this is the perfect opportunity to try something new.
