Tucked away in the heart of the stunning historic Adelaide Hills town of Hahndorf lies Thiele’s Shop, South Australia’s latest spot for all things breakfast, brunch and natural wines.
Opening their shop doors to eager customers today, the provisions store and cafe on Hahndorf’s Main Street brings a strong sense of community to the bustling Hills town, and the perfect place to catch up with a loved one.
Thiele’s is the brainchild of the experienced British sommelier Thom Adams, who has worked in Britain, Germany and the Adelaide Hills, currently at Manon Farm. Now he’s taken to the café scene to bring South Australians the best in organic produce and natural wines.
Taking up residence in one of Australia’s oldest continuously operating shopfronts, Thiele’s finds its home with its counterpart ‘The PaintBox’, Hahndorf’s one-stop-shop for art supplies owned by Thom’s mother-in-law Bec Madden, the bar being a natural continuation of the art, food and wine classes run by The PaintBox, with up to ten classes a week for Adelaide creatives.
But Thiele’s isn’t just specialising in all things coffee and brunch, with the store stocking up on all the goodies needed for a romantic picnic in the beautiful Adelaide Hills.
Completing renovations earlier this year, the cosy place is full of heart and character, offering an array of food and drinks that champions local and seasonal ingredients, as well as quality beans by De Groot coffee.
Enjoy a delicious wine, beer or cider made by small producers, including wines from Manon, Jean Bouteille and Giorgio de Maria, and beers from Tasmania’s Two Metre Tall.
Grazing platter options feature local produce such as farmhouse cheeses, cured meats, handcrafted ferments and pickles. There will also be bunches of homegrown flowers and provisions for sale.
You can find Thiele’s Shop on Friday and Saturdays 8am to 3pm, and Sundays 9am to 3pm and keep up with the cosy café on Instagram.
