Cosy up with folk blues tunes at Foyer Fridays this July

It’s time to get cosy this winter at Woodville Town Hall’s Foyer Fridays with folk blues tunes from the spectacular Emily Davis and Cal Williams Jnr.

Fridays are about to get a little cosier with Woodville Town Hall’s special Foyer Fridays event on 9 July!

Get cosy with the warm sounds of Emily Davis and Cal Williams Jnr, the two spectacular artists that have just been announced as headliners for the special event.

The Woodville Town Hall music series has extended its winter season – due to popular demand! – with two of the city’s most respected singers/songwriters known across the world for their folk and blues stylings.

Free and family-friendly, this double-billing is where you can see the award-winning singers/songwriters perform songs, new and old, solo and together, in intimate mode, as Emily and Cal follow an incredible line-up of artists (Naomi Keyte, Nathan May, The Fiddle Chicks, Golonka!, Lazaro Numa and Isabelle da Sylveira) who have performed on the Foyer Fridays’ stage this winter season.

Cal will be on stage from 5.30pm to combine the gentle fingerpicking of British folk with the raw intensity of Delta blues to create a sound that is both powerful and intricate. His celebrated career has seen him perform with artists of the calibre of Billy Bragg, Ben Kweller, CW Stoneking and Jeff Lang and he is an ARBA Best Blues Soloist Award winner and a former SCALA South Australian Artist of the Year.

Following Cal will be Emily to perform unreleased original songs and old favourites in solo acoustic mode. Her music walks the line between syrupy folk and sassy blues, as her cinematic lyrics create a luscious world for the listener, exploring human connection, universal truths and the transformative power of love.

Emily follows in the tradition of the strong women of her art form, with a sound reminiscent of songstresses Brandi Carlile, Emmy-Lou Harris, Jolie Holland and Chrissie Hynde. And has performed at WOMADelaide, Semaphore Music Festival and Breminale (Germany), and sell-out European tours.

To witness this show all you have to do is reserve your place via the Foyer Fridays Humanitix page, here.
