Late-night venue Couch Potato is celebrating South Australia’s incredible efforts during the past seven day lockdown by creating an epic milkshake with a hero SA ingredient: the Balfours custard tart.
Calling it the ‘undisputed greatest custard tart in Australia’ customers will be able to slurp on the liquified, milkshake version of Balfours famous pastry from Couch Potato’s re-opening tomorrow, where a reduced indoor capacity is in place in line with the latest restrictions.
To create the sumptuous shake, ice cream is blended together with almond milk and vanilla custard, then poured into a vintage milkshake glass, drizzled with caramel syrup and topped with a dollop of whipped cream and broken up Balfours custard tart pieces, of course.
Couch Potato co-owner Brian Hash thought there would be no better time to release the shake than as SA is coming out of a seven-day lockdown, bringing this Hall of Fame tart to life in a truly decadent milkshake.
Customers who fancy getting their hands on the cult shake will be set back $16 and can enjoy it alongside Couch Potato’s mouth-watering menu of hearty late-night eats including birria tacos, ultra-cheesy pizzas and towering burger stacks.
The Balfours Custard Tart Shake adds to the venue’s two other milkshake offerings, with the delicious drink to become a permanent fixture if it proves popular with Couch Potato’s patrons.
Visitors to the venue are certainly spoilt for choice when it comes to insta-worthy foodie content, with the hot-pink Bubblegum Sour cocktails making a big splash on the venue’s Instagram.
Couch Potato is reopening on Thursday 29 July and in line with new restrictions is operating at a reduced capacity of 21 diners indoors and 15 outdoors.
