Transformed from a dilapidated, old chaff mill barn into a wedding venue, Gavin and Sherinne Schuster’s farm now boasts a further transformation of their newly fledged business adventure as wedding venue owners.
Initially built in 1921, the barn fell into disrepair as farming practices adjusted. Having been restored in 2019, originally with plans of working as a space for family celebrations, it was turned into a farmland-chic wedding venue.
The Schusters’ plans of further transforming their venue are in action with six luxury accommodation suites under construction.
“Thanks to the South Australian Tourism Commission, our submission to construct 6 luxury accommodation suites was awarded an SA Government grant as part of the Tourism Industry Development Fund”, Gavin and Sherinne said.
Much like they achieved with the chaff mill, the southern barn will become three delightful suites, and three silos are being transformed into a 2-storey living space, complete with a balcony to overlook the lush farm landscapes of Freeling.
Construction began in October last year and with the most recent update on their Facebook, it looks like a completion date can be expected soon.
Only 15 minutes from Gawler and an hour north of Adelaide, The Barns of Freeling offer flexibility to the to-be brides and grooms.
