COVID-19 cases rise to 1,671 as SA records two deaths

SA’s COVID-19 cases and hospitlisations have increased in the last 24 hours, with the state recording 1,671 cases and 18 in the ICU.

In the 24 hours to midnight last night, there has been an increase in cases, with 1,671 COVID-19 cases confirmed in SA. Sadly, SA Health confirmed a woman in her 60s and a man in his 90s, who tested positive for COVID19, has passed away. There are currently 14,312 active cases in South Australia.

Numbers have slightly increased in hospitalisation and intensive care, with 210 in hospital and 18 people in the ICU, three of which are on a ventilator. Of those hospitalised, 119 people are fully vaccinated, 39 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 52 have an unknown vaccination status.

Yesterday, 9,953 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is a 19 per cent increase in the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,298 PCR tests were positive, while 373 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

Currently, 94.7% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 91.5% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 62.6% of eligible South Australians and 46.1% of South Australians aged 16+.

Regular genome sampling is taken to monitor the levels of Omicron within South Australia. 97% of samples taken returned an Omicron result. This figure will be updated as results are received, noting results are not reported daily.
