In a post on his Facebook page, Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced the total support package figure has reached $189 billion.
The second stimulus package is expected to be confirmed today, with businesses set to receive a cash payment of up to $100,000.
According to the Prime Minister, the payment is designed to encourage businesses to keep their workers in jobs, and get through the next six months or so as the COVID-19 situation continues.
In his Facebook post, the Prime Minister stated, “Our support is all about building an economic bridge to get us to the other side, so together, we get through this.”
