COVID-19 PM Update: Non-Residents Travel Ban, RBA $90b Funding Facility

Australian residents are permitted to return, but are subject to isolation upon arrival.

In a press conference this afternoon, Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced that a travel ban will be installed as of 9pm tomorrow evening (20 March) for all non residents coming to Australia.

Mr Morrison also thanked Qantas for offering their help in assisting Australian citizens’ return to Australia.

He also commented that the food supply in Australia is something we can feel quite comfortable about.

Also announced, the Reserve Bank has reduced cash rate to a record low, quarter per cent, in a bid to counter the effects of COVID-19 on the Australian economy.

The RBA’s $90 billion term funding facility will be provided to banks over three years, if they lend to small and medium sized businesses across the economy.
