Craig Lowndes announced as official ‘Fanbassador’ for the 2023 VAILO Adelaide 500

As the ‘Fanbassador’, he will offer fans his expert analysis on day-to-day track action and provide insights into the emerging talent in the Supercars arena.

The world of motorsport is gearing up for the 2023 VAILO Adelaide 500, and fans are in for a special treat. Supercars legend and inaugural Adelaide 500 winner, Craig Lowndes OAM, has been announced as the official ‘Fanbassador’ for the highly anticipated event.

Lowndes, a renowned figure in the racing community, is no stranger to the limelight or the Adelaide 500 circuit. With a racing career that spanned over two decades, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table. As the ‘Fanbassador’, he will offer fans his expert analysis on day-to-day track action and provide insights into the emerging talent in the Supercars arena.

Speaking about his appointment, Lowndes said, “I’ve raced the Adelaide 500 every year from 1999 – 2018, so I am excited to share my fondest memories from over the years and to ignite some nostalgia amongst the fans.” He further expressed his anticipation about the talent breaking through the ranks this year, especially with the introduction of the Gen3 race cars. “The event is a drivers’ favourite,” Lowndes added, underlining the action-packed zones, exceptional food, and the after-race concert series that make the Adelaide 500 a must-attend affair.

Adding to the fan experience, Lowndes will be featured in the official Transporter Parade through Adelaide’s streets on 21st November. Racing enthusiasts should also mark their calendars for 25th November when Lowndes joins the driver signing session at the Entertainment Stage, giving fans the golden opportunity to interact with motorsport bigwigs and celebrities.

Lowndes’ new role dovetails nicely with his ongoing commitment to the Supercars broadcast, where he shares expert commentary and driver insights. This latest appointment follows in the tracks of the successful 2022 campaign when three-time Supercars champion, Scott McLaughlin, graced the city with his racing acumen.

For those new to the circuit’s history, Lowndes secured his spot in the annals of racing legends by clinching the maiden Adelaide 500 in 1999. Back then, a youthful 24-year-old Lowndes showcased his mettle with a stunning last-to-first drive during the two-part 500km event. His dedication to the race is further underlined by the fact that over his illustrious 24-year career, he was the sole driver to have raced every single event in Adelaide.

As the excitement builds, fans are advised to stay tuned to the VAILO Adelaide 500’s social media channels. These platforms will serve as the go-to source for updates on Lowndes’ appearances and insights during the four-day extravaganza.

The VAILO Adelaide 500 promises high-octane action from 23 – 26 November 2023.
