If you’re a fan of cricket (or wine), this December, there’s an intimate one-night-only event that you’re going to want to get in on. On Monday, December 15th, Adelaide Botanic Garden’s Botanic Lodge is welcoming An Evening with Isa Guha & Friends: The Battle of The Ashes Wine Tasting Experience, bringing together some of the biggest personalities in international cricket for a relaxed night of premium wines, fine food and great stories.
Timed perfectly to coincide with The Ashes, the event is hosted by Take Her Lead founder, former England cricketer and beloved broadcaster Isa Guha. She’ll be joined by Phil Tufnell, Jason Gillespie and Jonathan Agnew, three individuals who are sure to bring a bit of banter and a behind-the-scenes look from both sides of the cricketing divide. Will Lyons, acclaimed wine columnist for The Sunday Times, will also join the evening, guiding guests along a masterclass-style journey of standout Australian and New Zealand wines.
With only 35 seats available, the night will be an intimate, personal experience, designed to bring guests close to the people, the wines, and the stories that shape both cricket. Attendees will explore premium selections from Margaret River, the Adelaide Hills, Victoria and Marlborough, each wine matched with curated canapés from the Botanic Lodge kitchen. The menu leans into the restaurant’s signature style of seasonal, garden-inspired and nostalgic dishes, celebrating the flavours and ingredients that define South Australia. It’s sure to be a relaxed, conversational dinner party with the warm hospitality The Lodge has become known for.
All proceeds from the event will go directly to Take Her Lead, the charity founded by Isa Guha to empower women and girls in cricket. Inspired by her late mum, Roma, Isa established the organisation to make sure every girl in the sport feels supported, welcomed and able to thrive. Take Her Lead focuses on creating inclusive environments, increasing opportunities, and tackling structural barriers. All work that continues to reshape the cricket community for the better.
