Crown and Anchor and Roxie’s bid farewell in a final party to celebrate its bright moments

Loved Chateau Apollo and Roxie’s crew announce the final edition of their wine tasting festival and it’s one you don’t want to miss.

The loved Chateau Apollo and Roxie’s crew have just announced the final edition of their wine tasting festival, Bright Moments, on May 4. The event will mark the last hurrah with the venues closing for redevelopment later in the month, and one you don’t want to miss.

Here for its 10th installment, Bright Moments is a celebration of all the fantastic wineries South Australia has to offer. I think we can all agree that, if there’s one thing worth celebrating, it’s our smashing grape juice.

“It’s been a great event that over the years has brought over 4500 people together,” explains Managing Director Tom Skipper.

This year, the festival boats an incredible lineup of over 300 unique and carefully selected choices, representing exactly what people are reaching for.

“The wineries and the winemakers represent the current style. There’s a great cross section and something for everyone,” he explains.

“Most if not all these winemakers have also featured in the Young Gun of Wine, whether it be a winner or a people’s choice recipient.”

Makers include Ada Wine Co, Alpha Box & Dice, Aphelion, Basket Range Wines, Charlotte Dalton, Grounded Cru, Murdoch Hill and the list goes on.

Each ticket holder recieves a tasting glass ready to fill with their favourite drop, with additional glasses and bottles available to buy. You can even take them home at special cellar-door prices, making it the perfect opportunity to stock up on all your favourites, all in one place.

In true festive spirit, there will be Roxie’s DJ sets, as well as mouth-watering fare from their kitchen. Wood-fired pizza, anyone?

No send off would be complete without a trip down memory lane, and this corner cluster has had quite the personality change over the years.

Roxie’s began life as an abandoned rug shop before being revived for a brief but brilliant Fringe Festival pop-up in 2013 known as Little Miss Mexico.

The vibrant pop-up bar opened everyone’s eyes to the potential of the leafy inner-city space, and it soon evolved into The Crab Shack and Dive Shop alongside the now Chateau Apollo location – and then came Superfish, known for its crab boil and Caribbean inspired flavours.

The transient spot built up quite the following over the years, and for good reason – who doesn’t love a consistently good surprise?

In 2017, the space shifted gears once more, renaming as Roxie’s and trading seafood for Mediterranean-infused delights and wood fire flavour, and the rest is history.

Roxie’s has been loved by those after a cheeky pint, a wood-oven pizza, a boogie on the dance floor and everyone in between.

As we say our final goodbye, we can remember a legacy of good times, and a “garden of whole hearts” right in the middle of the CBD.

The event allows us to raise a final glass and enjoy an afternoon full of bright moments and good vibes, and it’s set to be the biggest one yet.

“There may be a few surprises in store. It will be the largest collection of wines and winemakers we’ve ever done… if I had a guess this one will be the most memorable,” Tom reveals.

So, mark your calendars, bring your mates and we will see you there.
