Mount Lofty Ranges Vineyard Restaurant has continued its fine dining legacy, with the announcement of Matt Rodgers as the new Head Chef. Bringing a rich background in culinary expertise, with particular emphasis on sustainability and local sourcing, Matt is well-prepared to enhance the dining experience at this acclaimed venue.
Situated in the scenic Adelaide Hills, Mount Lofty Ranges Vineyard Restaurant has become a prominent site for premium food and wine tourism. Since its restaurant opened in 2015, it has maintained a reputation for excellence, achieving a notable two chef-hats award in 2024. The restaurant offers an array of dining options, from two to three-course meals to elaborate degustation menus that utilise hyper-seasonal local produce.

Matt Rodgers began his culinary career in the UK, training under the guidance of Raymond Blanc at Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons. He advanced his craft in Michelin-starred establishments in the UK and Ireland and later held positions at significant international locations, including Richard Branson’s Necker Island and Restaurant Sat Bains. Since moving to Australia in 2017, Matt has contributed his expertise to renowned local restaurants including d’Arenberg Cube Restaurant and ARC Restaurant in Brisbane. Prior to his current role, he was the Head Chef at Sequoia Lodge and Head Chef HVR at Mount Lofty House.
In his new role at Mount Lofty Ranges Vineyard Restaurant, Matt plans to focus on integrating high-quality seasonal produce from local Adelaide Hills farms and incorporating foraged ingredients into his dishes. His interest in local and indigenous ingredients is set to provide a distinctive and appealing dining experience.

“I am excited to join the talented team at Mount Lofty Ranges Vineyard, and start to make my mark,” said Matt Rodgers. “We are committed to creating a new menu on a monthly basis, ensuring that returning guests can always discover something fresh and innovative. Growing up in the countryside in Yorkshire, I have a deep affection for small farms and vegetable patches. I look forward to working with the nuances of the local produce here and making exciting changes to our à la carte and degustation menu for both lunch and dinner,” he added.
