CWA to open Central Market stall to help shift Royal Show baked goods

During what would’ve been show week, South Australians will be able to visit the bustling Central Markets and stock up on SACWA baked goods and jams.

The Royal Adelaide Show might be cancelled this year, but the scones will go on at the Adelaide Central Market!

The South Australian Country Women’s Association (SACWA) will be selling their famous scones at a pop-up location in the Market’s Community Kitchen.

During what would’ve been show week, South Australians will be able to visit the bustling Markets and stock up on SACWA baked goods from September 4 to 11.

No scone is complete without a spot of jam and cream. Thankfully, takeaway SACWA jam jars will be available to purchase so everyone can enjoy the fluffy, golden-crusted goods and sweet jams from the comfort of their own homes.

While we may all be missing the sugary thrill of the Royal Adelaide Show, SACWA specialty show bags containing scone mix, jam and a tea towel will be available to purchase.

For individuals who want to place large orders, the delectable scones need to contact SACWA directly. All proceeds raised will go to SACWA to help the association.

The pop-up scone stall will run from 9.30 am each Market day until 3.30 pm on weekdays and 3 pm on Saturdays.

Several local businesses have come together with the Adelaide Central Market to support the Community Kitchen SACWA pop-up stall including Foodland, Spring Gully and Laucke.

But the Royal Show fun doesn’t stop with scones and jam, with the Central Markets hosting a make-shift ‘show day’ for families and food-lovers on Saturday, September 4 featuring free kids craft, roving entertainment and live music.

The Markets will be the new home to all the usual Adelaide Show suspects, with freshly spun fairy floss and fan-favourite Bertie Beetles for sale at the Old Lolly Shop. Adelaide’s Famous Poffertjes Parlour has also set up shop at the Market’s Producer Residence stall, serving up the sugary desserts oozing with cream this September.

The shock cancellation of the 2021 Royal Adelaide Show amid COVID-19 concerns has left dozens of stall-holders and SA producers in the lurch. Many small businesses and organisations like the SACWA had worked tirelessly in the lead-up to the anticipated annual show. With the event cancelled, companies and associations need South Aussies support now more than ever.
