Cycling Greats To Grace Legend’s Night Dinner

Lance Armstrong and Mark Cavendish will star at the Legends’ Night Dinner during the 2011 Santos Tour Down Under.  Premier Mike Rann today announced that the two cycling greats have confirmed their attendance at the dinner which will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Saturday 22 January 2011.

Lance Armstrong is set to be interviewed on stage by cycling commentators Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen, who will address his impending retirement from professional cycling.  The Tour Down Under will be Armstrong’s last professional race on international soil.  Another cycling great to be interviewed on stage at the dinner is Mark Cavendish, who is competing for the first time in Adelaide. The race will see him competing head-to-head for the first time against former team-mate and sprint rival André Greipel.

The Legend’s Night Dinner is an ideal occasion for cycling fans to meet and mingle with their sporting heroes and other cycling champions, with some fans traveling all the way from overseas to be part of the Santos Tour Down Under and its associated events.   In 2010, the dinner was a sell-out  and 2011 is expected to be no different, with fans snapping up the  opportunity to see Armstrong and Cavendish up close.

The 2011 Santos Tour Down Under will be held in Adelaide and regional South Australia from 16-23 January 2011.
