People are lining up to celebrate the return of Wongderful, with their traditional, freshly made Shanghai-style dim sum now being served in a new Chinatown location.
If you’ve been craving a basket of piping hot xiao long bao or that perfect pan-fried dumpling with a golden crunch, we’ve got some delicious news. Wongderful has returned to Adelaide’s Chinatown, and the response has been huge.

The much-loved dim sum spot has reopened just off Gouger Street at 17 Coglin Street, tucked down the side alley next to Star House. While it’s a new address, the flavours are exactly how you remember them – rich, authentic, and full of that unmistakable Shanghai flair.
They have quietly launched the new location with a soft opening, welcoming diners eager to get their fix of traditional Chinese dishes. From silky wontons in chilli oil to their cult-favourite soup dumplings, the menu is packed with the classics that built Wongderful’s original reputation.
“It’s been so busy,” said owner Emerson Wong.
“Our customers are coming back saying how much they missed us and our food.”

Wongderful’s new space brings a cosy, casual energy – perfect for a spontaneous lunch stop or a dinner feast with friends.
“Our new location is bringing in more local residents too, and many have come in every day,” added Emerson.
For those who missed the original Wongderful when it closed, this is the comeback worth celebrating. And for anyone yet to discover their take on Shanghai dumplings and dim sum, now’s your chance to join the fan club.

Just be prepared for the line-up, and know that everything is made fresh each day – once they’re sold out, you’ll have to come back tomorrow. But if their loyal regulars are anything to go by, it’s worth it.
Wongderful’s soft launch is in name only – the buzz is anything but quiet.
