It’s a release that had the who’s who of tastemakers lining up to premiere its collective parts – The Line Of Best Fit with Blood Money, Pigeons & Planes with Animal Kingdomand NME revealing tasty title cut Candyman’ – now available in its grungy, scuzzy entirety. The Australian release of the EP boasts three additional tracks, including breakthrough single ‘Queen Of Hearts’, lifted from the band’s debut EP.

Fresh from landing Hottest Record in the World on BBC Radio 1, new single and title track ‘Candyman’ is partnered by a gloriously gory visual treatment. It ain’t all guts and gore, but definitely not one for the fainthearted. Watch the video here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5p9yXgxfVyE

Musically, Darlia evoke early-’90s grunge, albeit a particularly British take on that most American of genres; a sound effortlessly displayed on ‘Queen of Hearts’ and ‘Choke On Bones’. ‘Napalm’ meanwhile, rattles along, a bluster of crunching guitars and Jack Bentham’s relentless drumming.

Though still in their infancy – the band is just over a year old – frontman Nathan Day has been plotting and planning the band’s imminent rise ever since he can remember. A combination of isolation at school, shyness and anxiety meant he wasn’t big on communication until music came into his life. The irony of someone who suffered in such a way now fronting a band, throwing himself around stages across the globe, isn’t lost on Day, but in music he finally found a way to say what he’d been unable to for so long. “It’s self-absorbed, but there’s no point in it not being,” he reasons. “It’s such a beautiful way to communicate.”
