David Helfgott is a virtuoso pianist who touches the hearts of all who hear him and brings joy to concert-goers of all ages.

In his eagerly anticipated solo recital, David will perform the music that captured his soul including works by the greatest romantic composers including Beethoven and Liszt.

A highlight of the performance will be David’s dazzling interpretation of Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Flight of the Bumblebee, which he performed to a huge international audience at The Oscars.

Writing in The West Australian, respected critic Neville Cohn described the ‘gales of applause’ which greeted David’s performance in the Perth Concert Hall in August of Beethoven’s Appassionata and the joy of hearing his flawless performance of the Italian concerto by Bach which was also greeted, in Cohn’s own words, with a ‘Vesuvius of applause’.

Cohn wrote that there were cheers, whistles and a ‘thoroughly deserved’ standing ovation at the end of the performance.

Shine propelled David Helfgott to worldwide fame. He was portrayed in the film by Geoffrey Rush, who won an Academy Award for his astonishingly accurate performance.

His 2013 Australian tour is proudly presented by Andrew McKinnon.
