Dawn Services back for ANZAC Day 2021

On April 25, separate to the State service at the National War Memorial on North Terrace, suburban events at many locations including Morphett Vale, Brighton, Hallett Cove, Robe, Murray Bridge will take place.

2021 Anzac Day commemorations will be able to go ahead this year, in part due to the $160,000 in State Government funding to local organisers. The funding will assist in ensuring that gatherings for Dawn Services meet Covid Safe requirements.

Premier Marshall, who holds the Veteran Affairs’ portfolio, said “In March there was some concern in the community that Dawn Services on Anzac Day would not be able to proceed in 2021 but that is certainly not the case.”

“Following those reports, I announced we would provide funding assistance to cover the added costs involved with meeting Covid Safe requirements to ensure proposed Dawn Services could proceed.”

On April 25, separate to the State service at the National War Memorial on North Terrace, suburban events at many locations including Morphett Vale, Brighton, Hallett Cove, Robe, Murray Bridge will take place.

“The Government has provided funding to 11 separate organising committees to ensure their commemorative services can go ahead in a Covid Safe way,” Mr Marshall said.

“Additionally the Government, through Veterans SA, reached out to a significant number of RSL sub-branches and other organisations across the state to ensure local organisers were well equipped to run services in their community if they chose to. Pleasingly a number of services in both regional South Australian and metropolitan Adelaide will be held with some modifications.

“It has been an incredibly challenging 12 months and after severe lockdown restrictions in April 2020 I am delighted to know that we will be able to come together in our local communities and honour the service and sacrifice of our veterans and their families.”

The additional costs to ensure Anzac Day commemorations has been funded from Veterans SA and the Office of the Premier.
