Year after year, it seems Adelaide is getting more into the ‘Day of the Dead’ celebrations and Hoosegow is no exception. They’ll be throwing their annual Dia De Los Muertos party on Friday 3 November and Saturday 4 November with live entertainment, latin dance, great food and ‘Bloody Hoose’ shots (which sound equally intriguing and terrifying).
If you’re not totally sure what Dia De Los Muertos is though, let us help. Commonly known as Day of the Dead, it’s a Mexican holiday which focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for loved ones who have passed on, and help support their spiritual journey. Altars are decorated with candles, flowers, food, beverages, clothes, and sugar skulls, an image which has become widely popular and heavily associated with Dia De Los Muertos. The rituals used to celebrate the day are varied and colourful. Yet, all carry the same message, celebrating the day of the dead is a true celebration of life.
