Deliveroo launch free delivery across Adelaide during lockdown

Deliveroo has switched on free delivery across Adelaide to help locals support their favourite restaurants during the stay-at-home period.

What’s the one thing that would make takeout even better? No delivery fee of course!

As South Australia continues its week-long snap lockdown, Deliveroo has switched on free delivery across Adelaide to help locals support their favourite restaurants during the stay-at-home period.

Over 1,000 restaurants like Nordburger and Cheeky Chook have been included in the exciting new offer which will run until midnight on 27 July. Under current restrictions, there is a ban on all outdoor and indoor dining leaving takeout as the only way to get the best eats from your favourite spots.

What’s even better? Deliveroo wanted to make sure no eateries involved were left out of pocket, so they have decided to foot the bill for all delivery amounts.

“Deliveroo is proud to play a pivotal role supporting restaurants in Adelaide through this pandemic”, says Deliveroo CEO Ed McManus.

“It is important that people remain at home to help contain the spread of the virus so that we can get back to normality quicker.”

The idea to ditch the fee comes during a groundswell push to support small and local businesses impacted by this week’s lockdown and ongoing restrictions. Clare Suridge from Nordburger says they are ‘super grateful’ for Deliveroo’s generous decision.

“Food delivery allows us to reach our loyal customers through lockdown restrictions and we’re super grateful to Deliveroo for covering the cost of delivery. This means it’s easier than ever to keep your spirits up and support your local restaurants,” says Suridge.

Minimum spend for most restaurants is $10, with bottle shops, KFC and eateries marked ‘delivered by restaurant’ excluded from the deal.
