Design forward Italian sandwich shop Pinco Deli takes over popular CBD coffeehouse

Italian sandwich shop Pinco Deli has opened its stylish second location in Adelaide’s CBD.

A heavy blow to the hearts of coffee lovers came earlier this year with the closure of iconic coffee favourite Paddy Barry’s. The owner, Jimmy, had to make the tough but necessary decision to allow for more precious family time. It’s not all bad though, with 96 Gilles Street’s baton being passed to innovative newcomer Pinco Deli.

Founded by Ben Pankhurst, Elijah Makris and Saba Maghsoudi, it’s the stylish sandwich specialist’s second location. Welcoming sandwich-lovers into the shop this Monday, local businesses and customers alike have already taken to socials embracing Pinco with warmth and excitement.

Described as a ‘retro future’ inspired ‘radical Italian’ sandwich deli, Pinco began delighting the tastebuds of its Eastwood patronage in 2022. A passion for high quality local ingredients has paved the way for the deli’s authentic Italian sandwiches to showcase flavour in simplicity.

But the establishment has shown that it’s about more than just food, with a beautiful gallery-like interior emphasising the deli’s profound design influences. The stylish interior combines stainless steel tables, retro chairs and beautiful brown leather benches bringing diners a supremely comfortable, yet inspiring dining experience.

The deli’s new second home is a brilliant opportunity to bring Pinco’s unique brand of food and art to the flurry of the CBD. Offering tried and tested menu favourites and great coffee, the new location will also offer a range of on-brand liquor, and most notably, “The Cotoletta Sandwich”. This one is going to be a “CBD exclusive” schnitzel sandwich with rocket, pesto and fresh tomato. Grab a sneak peak on their Instagram!

As a send off and an ode to the relationship between Pinco Deli and the space’s former tenant Paddy Barry’s, Pinco took to Instagram to say “we’ve got Jimmy Barry on the machine with us for at least a month..but we’ll try convince him to stay longer”. Open now on Gilles Street, head on in for a delicious hand crafted sandwich and a coffee!
