Private lab offers faster testing for COVID-19

This sudden increase in testing has created delays in receiving results that have exceeded, in some cases, five days. This is significantly longer than the 24-48 hours stated.

COVID-19 testing in South Australia is continually rising, with labs conducting more tests every day as interstate numbers in Victorian and NSW increase.

Although South Australian case numbers have plateaued, and the Thebarton cluster is seemingly controlled, testing statistics have remained high.

This sudden increase has created delays in receiving results that have exceeded, in some cases, five days. This is significantly longer than the 24-48 hours stated.

An alternative clinic for getting a COVID-19 test is Clinpath.

Clinpath currently has five drive through testing clinics, and is on the brink of opening their sixth.

While the wait time to receive results is also 24-48 hours, the waiting times at these drive through clinics is said to be at maximum 20 minutes or no wait time at all depending on when you visit.

Clinpath requires a doctor referral form that states that you have symptoms. From there, you can visit one of their clinics to get tested.

Clinpath also does a full PCR Panel Screen test, which tests for COVID-19 and various other illnesses, whether it be the Flu A, Flu B, the Rhinovirus, or even pneumonia (if specifically requested).

Negative results are still received by SMS, but a comprehensive report is sent to the referring GP who you can contact for more information.

Clinpath also offer testing for corporate bodies whose staff may need weekly or fortnightly tests.

The five drive through clinics across the state are located in Mile End, Firle, Elizabeth Park, Blair Athol and Huntfield Heights.

The Mile End and Elizabeth Park sites are open on weekends, while the others are only open Monday to Friday.

Clinpath are in the process of opening their sixth clinic in Port Adelaide.

If you’re unable to access these clinics due to being in lockdown, Clinpath has a mobile COVID service.

The Mile End clinic also has an Auslan service for the deaf community, as the wearing of masks has showcased issues for those who rely on lip reading.

Clinpath are also in charge of testings in the aged care sector with their dedicated team able to visit aged care sites in two hours and have results back in 24.

Whilst they prefer booking, it is not mandatory, and wait times are said to be either 20 minutes, or not at all, depending on time of visit.

Call the Clinpath COVID-19 hotline at 1800 870 778, or alternatively, visit https://www.clinpath.com.au/.
