Die Roten Punkte (The Red Dots) are a late night Fringe comedy staple, having returned to Adelaide for a number of consecutive years now. This ‘best of’ show is a must for seasoned fans and new fans alike.
Astrid and Otto are a dysfunctional brother/sister act from Berlin who belt out naff Indie rock songs in English, such as “I Am A Lion”, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Monster”, “OMG Yeah!” and “Super Musikant”. They engage the audience with Astrid’s Drinking Song, and provide ample laughs with their song lyrics and bad behaviour.
Buxom Astrid is a bodacious musician on drums, accordion and cowbell but has a penchant for drugs, alcohol and men. Girl-shy Otto is a powerhouse on electric guitar and keytar, scissor-kicking the air and leaping all over the place. Both provide vocals to each song and lap up the applause with cries of “Danke Adelaide!”
Unlike their exaggerated make up, their spoken banter is delivered in a natural style that’s makes them perfectly believable as kin.
If you can stay up past midnight, the award-winning Die Roten Punkte remains a comedy highlight.
