Discover Lobethal Road’s hidden cellar door with a new and indulgent long lunch

Hidden in amongst the gum trees in Mount Torrens is Lobethal Road Wines’ cellar door, with a brand new weekend long lunch menu and indulgent wine flights.

Hidden amongst the gumtrees in the north-east corner of the Adelaide Hills you will find Lobethal Road Wines’ picturesque cellar door.

Sitting between the heritage villages of Lobethal and Mount Torrens in beautiful open-air surroundings, Lobethal Road Wines offers an incredible long lunch and wine flight experience.

This recent foray into lunch service by owners, Inga Lidums and Dave Neyle makes the already intimate and charming Lobethal Road Wines the perfect winery to discover this spring.

Relax in their alfresco dining area and taste some of the incredibly indulgent menu items designed by talented head chef, Frank McWilliams.

The menu has an emphasis on seasonal ingredients, changing regularly with the availability of local products.

The long lunch menu (only available on weekends) kicks off with a serving of low and slow smoky beef brisket with spicy green beans, white bean puree and apple slaw; as well as a marinated goat feta tart with braised beetroots and candied walnuts.

You’ll also get to feast on delectable items such as Atlantic salmon with fragrant coconut sauce, kaffir lime and crispy shallots; and a confit duck leg with broad beans, fresh pea purée and potato gratin.

For the sweet tooths there’s a lemon and vanilla baked cheesecake with strawberry salad, and a chocolate panna cotta with double barrel single malt shiraz poached pear and caramel.

The cellar door has recently extended their trading hours for you to enjoy their fabulous offerings from Thursday to Monday.

In addition to the new menu, Lobethal Road also offers seated wine flights with three different tasting options, plus some exclusive cellar door only wines to experience when you visit.

On weekdays, Lobethal Road offers regional tasting platters to pair with their wine flights.

Lobethal Road’s vineyard is nurtured with modern, environmentally sustainable practices, with a minimum intervention approach to both vineyard management and wine making.

Since 1998 the vineyard and cellar door has operated entirely off-grid, supplying its own water as well as generating all its power by solar energy.

Their wines have been regularly awarded top accolades in wine shows by leading Australian critics and have also been selected for prestigious wine lists both domestically and internationally.

Lobethal Road is also offering a special Spring Releases six-pack, which is exclusively available for lunch guests during October.

The pack includes two bottles each of their 2020 sauvignon blanc, 2020 pinot gris and 2018 shiraz. The packs are available for $120, normally $150.

Lobethal Road Wines cellar door is open Thursday to Sunday from 11am ’til 5pm.

Bookings for weekend lunches and wine flights are essential due to current space restrictions. Bookings can be made online via Lobethal Road Wine’s website or calling them on (08) 8389 4595.
