Discover The Delicious Cuisine of McLaren Vale at Gorgeous Festival

Musicians won’t be the only stars of this year’s Gorgeous Festival as local produce takes centre stage on the 24th November. From a masterclass with one of Adelaide’s tops chefs, to a head to head challenge with local produce and a festival menu that rivals a five star restaurant, this year’s Gorgeous Festival will delight the taste buds of foodies and epicures.

Chef Bradd Johns from the Crowne Plaza Adelaide’s Red Salt Restaurant and Bar has previously catered for the Queen and Prince Charles and has worked in some of London’s most prestigious eateries. Bradd Johns has a passion for creating uniquely South Australian cuisine, which ties in with the festival’s desire to celebrate and showcase local offerings. Bradd says “We have wonderfulvineyards, fantastic food regions and so many people in South Australia who are passionate about food and wine.” Bradd will present a masterclass at the festival, cooking one of his signature dishes using local Fleurieu produce.

Later in the day, Johns will then go head to head with The Elbow Room’s chef, Nigel Rich, in a cooking showdown like no other. Both chefs will be provided with a Gorgeous mystery box supplied by stalls from the well-known Willunga Farmers Market and will create a dish in front of festivalgoers.

Watching these creations unfold before your eyes is bound to send your taste buds into a frenzy and lead you straight to the Festival’s food stalls. A festival menu like you’ve never seen has been created especially for the 2012 festival that will leave you wanting to sample from each of the six stalls on the day. D’Arrys Verandah will be serving up lobster medallion with blue swimmer crab and prawn ravioli in lobster bisque.
