Lose yourself in the night sky at this unique experience in McLaren Vale.
In celebration of their first birthday, Shirvington Wines are inviting you to come and enjoy the beauty of the stars at their cellar door while sipping on their award-winning wine.
You won’t just be thrust into darkness and told to look up though. Guided by astronomers from Australian astronomy school Stellar Science you’ll be taken on a complete journey of the night sky and discover the meanings and locations of the constellations.
Using high-grade telescopes, you’ll feel yourself get whisked away as you travel through galaxies, nebulae and planets with 11 suggested sky viewings set up for you to work your way through.
Each viewing station will be complete with information to help you truly understand the miracle of what you’re seeing.
Beginning as the sun goes down, you’ll watch the stars come to life as the world turns from day to night.
Of course, the boutique wines of Shirvington will be on offer alongside a collection of local beers from their partners for the evening, Frothy Float Co.
Wood-fired pizzas will be there to fill your tum and if you’re organised you can even pre-purchase a cheese platter for $15 per person to be ready for you on the night. If you’re not organised, you can purchase a platter on the night but it is subject to availability.
It wouldn’t be a birthday celebration without music which is why the guy’s at Shirvos have roped in their good mate and local musician Lucas Day to delight you with his acoustic stylings. His personal style of soulful rock and heartfelt lyrics will set the perfect scene for your astro experience.
This is a truly unique experience that will stick in the memory bank for a lifetime and images from the night will be available for download so you can share what you’ve seen and relive the moment over and over again.
Tickets are $35 for adults and $12.50 for those under 18. Kids under 8 can enter for free!
