The power of fashion is being displayed in the City of Holdfast Bay, with an elegant display curated by Violet Rowe.

You can take a trip through the memory lane of vintage fashion with this new vintage fashion exhibition in Glenelg.

The Finishing Touch is being brought to the City of Holdfast Bay by fashion collector Violet Rowe. She is giving you a sneak peek inside her wardrobe and the perfect exhibition to showcase how the ideal outfit was created.

You will be able to explore every aspect of creating the perfect outfit, from gloves to bags, ties to coats. You will even get a sneaky peek at what’s underneath the skirts and frills of the various forms of lingerie that created the iconic body shapes of women throughout the decades.

Having opened just after the Oscars the fashion gallery created an Oscar moment for themselves and their intrigued visitors. Displaying beautiful gowns and jewels that cast you back into the world of old Hollywood, a true achievement considering we could not be further from the time or place.

Inspired by women like Marilyn Monroe and her passion for beauty and fashion, visitors can expect the exhibition to be a display of elegance and grace.

Fashion and its evolvement throughout the 20th Century were a visible and tangible display and reaction to the changing times.

Women’s clothing was the means they used to express their power and take back their own lives.

While perhaps limited in its quantity, Violet Rowe’s collection is worth wandering through.

You can witness women’s journey of empowerment through the vintage fashion exhibition at your back door.

As Marilyn Monroe said, “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world”.

This is a free exhibition that is open until the 15th between 10 am and 12 pm each day.
