Ever felt the urge to just break something?
Well, now you can, in a safe environment, or a ‘smash room’ to be precise.
Inspired by a similar enterprise in America, Project Break first opened its doors in May 2017 and is currently the only place in Adelaide you can go to, well, break stuff.
The warehouse, located in Para Hills West, has been fitted out with specially designed ‘smash rooms’ which are large enough to allow for a serious swing and also fully enclosed with a reinforced back wall to ensure no pieces of porcelain go astray.
Before entering, grab your box of thirty breakable items (think dinnerware, glassware and ceramics) and select your weapon from the Weapon Wall. Perhaps you fancy a sledgehammer? Or maybe a baseball bat is more your style? The choice is all yours.
Once you’ve made your selection, the clock starts ticking. For fifteen glorious minutes it’s just you, your sledgehammer (or bat), and a whole lot of fine china in need of smashing.
According to Project Break founders, Jay and Johnny, and their business partner Jordan, the main reason for starting the business was to provide a fun, controlled and safe environment for people to be destructive and blow off steam.
While it might seem like a niche market, the truth is that most people find breaking things to be extremely satisfying, addictive even.
In fact, Project Break has been such a hit that the company is looking to expand, “with twice the amount of break rooms and double the amount of axe throwing lanes,” according to Jordan.
So if you’re in need of a cathartic release like no other, or just wanting to have a bit of fun with some mates, book your session at Project Break here.
