Disney On Ice returns to Adelaide

Disney On IceDisney On Ice returns to Adelaide in June 2010 with Disney On Ice presents a Disneyland® Adventure.

On the on the back of the successful 2009 Disney On Ice Princess Wishes tour, Disney On Ice returns to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre in 2010 with the ice spectacular Disney Ice presents a Disneyland® Adventure from June 24-27.

Disney On Ice presents a Disneyland® Adventure invites audiences join their favorite characters and classic villains on a colourful and exciting trip through the famous theme park.

Produced by Feld Entertainment, the show features an array of beloved Disney characters and stories including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald, Goofy, Baloo (Jungle Book), Pluto, Snow White and Cinderella, Stitch, Disney/Pixar’s The Incredibles, Alice in Wonderland, The Pirates Of the Caribbean, Toy Story’s Buzz Lightyear and more.

Audiences will swing to the beat with Baloo through the Jungle Cruise, rock with Stitch in the Tiki Room, fly like a space ranger through Space Mountain® with Buzz Lightyear and spin wildly through the Mad Tea Party with Alice and the Mad Hatter. Popular Disneyland® attractions like the Haunted Mansion, “It’s a small world” and Pirates of the Caribbean come to life in this colorful ice extravaganza. Adventure ensues when the evil fairy Maleficent attempts to take over the park and casts a sleeping spell on Minnie and Donald. Just when all seems lost, Disney/Pixar’s The Incredibles come to the rescue. Mickey enlists the help of the audience to aid the superheroes to break the spell and thwart Maleficent’s sinister plan.

Each element of the show – from the dazzling skating, impressive lighting and magnificent props and vibrant costumes is designed to capture the magic of Disneyland®.

Director Patty Vincent used her own memories and experiences to provide a landscape for the show. “I went to Disneyland for research, and I wanted to show audiences its finer details—the lamp posts, the flower pots, the pretty benches…”   “Being at the park turned me into a kid again, and I wanted to give everyone in our audience that same feeling.”

Creative Director Jerry Bilik sought to capture favorite memories from the Disney parks, but added new twists by incorporating Maleficent and The Incredibles. “This show is designed for people of all ages,” says Bilik. “Interwoven into the parade of attractions and characters are moments of subtle humor for adults, physical comedy and interaction for children, groovy music and some creepy thrills that the entire family will enjoy.”

Choreographer Cindy Stuart researched the most iconic Disneyland attractions in order to precisely capture the signature animatronics motion featured in the theme park. From carousing pirates to swinging monkeys, Stuart used the repetition of three sharp movements for their motion. “The animatronics within many of the Disney theme park attractions always amaze people because they are so realistic,” says Stuart. “What’s cool about the animatronics in this show is that the characters really do come to life.”

Disney On Ice presents a Disneyland Adventure brings together the talents of an acclaimed creative team and an international ensemble of world-class skaters to tell an original story that will allow audiences to relive the magic that is Disney.
