Disney’s acclaimed Beauty and the Beast musical set to enchant Adelaide in 2025

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast debuts in Adelaide in 2025, with the acclaimed musical’s enchanting performances, featuring an all-Australian cast.

For the first time ever, the magic of Disney’s beloved musical, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, will sweep into Adelaide in 2025, promising a spectacular theatrical experience for audiences of all ages. The highly anticipated production is set to premiere at the Festival Theatre, Adelaide Festival Centre, in May next year.

This enchanting tale as old as time will be brought to life in a reimagined production that retains all the grandeur and spectacle audiences expect, while incorporating cutting-edge technology and dazzling new designs. The show boasts the same creative team behind other hit Disney stage productions such as ‘The Lion King’, ‘Mary Poppins’, ‘Aladdin’, and ‘Frozen’.

“We are thrilled to bring Beauty and the Beast, as re-imagined by members of the brilliant original creative team, to Adelaide and Perth for the very first time,” said Anne Quart, Executive Producer of Disney Theatrical Group. “This beloved show and Belle herself are somehow as contemporary today as when they were first brought to the stage in 1994. Following in the footsteps of our productions of Aladdin, Frozen, The Lion King and Mary Poppins, we cannot wait to bring this cherished story to two of our favourite Australian cities.”

The musical is based on the Academy Award-winning 1991 animated film, which was the first animated feature ever nominated for Best Picture. The original Broadway production enjoyed a remarkable 13-year run, becoming one of the top 10 longest-running shows in Broadway history. Now, South Australian audiences will have the opportunity to experience the magic firsthand, with spellbinding songs like “Belle”, “Gaston”, “Human Again”, and “Be Our Guest” brought to life by a live orchestra.

Critics have already given the reimagined production rave reviews, with publications such as The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian Australia, and Time Out Sydney awarding it 5 stars. The show has been praised for its spectacular sets, stunning costumes, and breathtaking spectacle, all combining to create a truly immersive experience.

Leading the all-Australian cast is Perth’s own Shubshri Kandiah as Belle, alongside Brendan Xavier as the Beast and Rohan Browne as Lumiere. The cast also features Jackson Head as Gaston, Gareth Jacobs as Cogsworth, and Jayde Westaby as Mrs. Potts.

The creative team is led by Olivier Award nominee Matt West, who directs and choreographs the production. He is joined by original composer Alan Menken, lyricist Tim Rice, book writer Linda Woolverton, and a host of other talented individuals who have reimagined this classic tale for a new generation.
