Dougstock Music Festival is returning to Willunga this December for its fifth year, promising two days and two nights of musical brilliance in a picturesque setting like no other.
Headlined by Tasmanian singer-songwriter Claire Anne Taylor and SA rock bands The Empty Threats and Druid Fluids, this coastal festival promises a soulful, friendly, and inclusive musical experience to remember.
Established in 2020, Dougstock takes place annually on the first Friday and Saturday of December at a privately owned, rural property on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula.
From the summit of one of the region’s highest hills, patrons can enjoy cinematic views of Gulf St Vincent and the McLaren Vale wine district while soaking in the weekend’s lively entertainment.
The lineup of bands that will be taking to the Main Stage has been unveiled, highlighted by Tasmanian headliner Claire Anne Taylor and SA post-punk rockers The Empty Threats. Other groups performing include psychedelic rock band Druid Fluids, Carl Orr’s London Underground, Tonix, Shyla Eve and the Frequencies, the Chris Finnen Band, The Jeffries, and Custard Pie.
Also a group of musicians from the University of Adelaide’s esteemed music school called The Elder Conservatorium All-Stars will be performing, as well as Dougie’s Disciples, a top-tier ensemble of some of SA’s finest jazz musicians, paying tribute to their “lord and saviour” Dougie with hard-swinging rhythms and infectious grooves.
Vinyl specialist DJ ES’AY will round off the final night of the festival, bringing an eclectic mix of music, spinning everything from 60s soul classics to modern electronica.
Dougstock continues to expand each year, now featuring a mix of market stalls, a Kid’s Zone, Chai Tent, Lounge Stage, delicious food trucks, and a licensed bar.
The 2024 event features a fresh oval layout, with the Main Stage at one end pulling crowds in with electrifying performances.
At the other, the Dragonfly Lounge offers an intimate space to take a break and put your feet up. Nestled beneath a stunning double tipi from Adelaide Marquees and Events, it features vintage lounge pods for relaxing and enjoying live sets. Surrounded by market stalls and food trucks, it’s a space to sip chai from Tea Catcher and soak in the festival energy.
Also featuring a lounge stage, delicious food trucks, and a licensed bar, this inclusive, family-friendly festival is brought to life by the collaborative efforts of volunteers, local businesses, artists, and environmental groups.
