Adelaide, get ready to experience wine tastings like you’ve never have before.

Dozens of South Australian cellar doors will undergo a complete makeover after receiving an exciting government grant.

There’s no better way to celebrate our stunning wine regions than visiting the cellar doors of our favourite wineries. Now that experience is about to get a whole lot better, with over $200,000 awarded to 47 cellar doors as part of the Unique Wine Experience initiative.

Wineries across the state have imagined exciting initiatives outside the realm of regular tasting flights, unlocking a new world of winery experiences.

Spectacular initiatives include the Riverland’s biodynamic winery, Whistling Kite, which will host a ‘make your own magic’ wine experience and Mount Horrocks Wines in Clare Valley, which will host a multi-sensory tasting flight.

Other unique experiences include charcoal drawing workshops and interactive in-the-dark wine tastings, as well as upgrades to an array of cellar doors like Adelaide Hills Shaw + Smith and Lazy Ballerina.

After an unprecedented pandemic, wild weather and a bitter export battle, the grant could not come at a better time for SA wineries that have faced an uphill battle in the last 18 months.

Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development David Basham hopes this boost will increase domestic tourism, while supporting local and regional economies.

“South Australians are rightly proud of our state’s wine industry and now, in the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic, are exploring the regions like never before,” said Basham in a recent statement.

“Our funding has unlocked more than $500,000 worth of new projects which will encourage more people to visit our wonderful countryside to experience some of South Australia’s fantastic cellar doors.”

It’s no secret that South Australia is internationally known for its premium wines, with each region producing fantastic drops every vintage, whether this is a bold Shiraz or delicate Pinot Grigios.

Now it’s time for South Aussies to get out and explore their own backyard with these epic new experiences.
