Australia’s first international drag act returns to the Adelaide Fringe for another high camp, gender bending film tribute. Last seen locally in the 2008 Adelaide Fringe with the Greased Lightnin’ Drag Show, these 20th Century Foxes now glam up the memories of Hollywood’s other great musicals.

Kris Del Vayze, Jessica James, Amanda Monroe and Linda Lamont hail from Victoria and present a tight, memorable night of screamingly funny comedy featuring a range of upbeat routines that don’t necessarily belong to the films in question.

Focussing on Fame, Titanic, Cabaret, Mary Poppins and The Wizard of Oz, these four professional divas are as outrageous as you would expect, leaving the predominantly heterosexual audience stamping their feet for more. Outside of their movie brief, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats gets a nod, as does The Muppet Show, with an unforgettable lip sync to Manamana.

A nice little pre-recorded mocumentary is projected onto a screen to fill in time during fast costumes changes but it suffers from poor quality audio, unlike the loud and spectacular garments which range from lions to ladies and everything in between. Some simply have to be seen to be believed.

Facial expressions play just as much a part in the show as the gals’ skills in lip syncing, dancing and farce. James’ elastic face in particular is one to keep your eye on.

If you think you’ve seen a drag act before, there ain’t nothing like these dames!
